Description :
Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the incumbent is responsible for designing, developing and improving products. Thanks to his or her technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, he or she plays a key role in turning innovative ideas into reality, developing customized products and optimizing the current range.
Main responsibilities
Product design
Design industrial metal storage systems (shelving, cabinets, modular stations, etc.) according to performance, safety and ergonomic standards.
Develop robust, aesthetic mechanical concepts that can be manufactured on a large scale.
Produce technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or equivalent).
Technical development
Actively participate in the continuous improvement of existing products (design, materials, processes).
Collaborate with production teams to ensure feasibility of proposed designs.
Integrate manufacturing constraints (laser cutting, bending, welding, painting, assembly) right from the design phase.
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Work closely with R&D, production, marketing and technical sales teams.
Participate in design reviews, functional tests and technical validations.
Support customer service or sales on customized or highly complex projects.
Project management
Monitor design projects, from initial brief to production launch.
Prepare required technical documents (drawings, bills of materials, instructions).
Respect deadlines and budgets allocated to each mandate.
Skills and experience required:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (or eligible).
• 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, ideally in a manufacturing environment (sheet metal or similar).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Solid Edge).
• Excellent understanding of metal manufacturing processes (machining, forming, assembly, painting).
• Aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Rigor, autonomy, organizational skills.
• Ability to manage several projects in parallel.
