Production Operator - Sheet Metal
Work Shift : The night shift is four 10-hour evenings, Monday to Thursday, from 3:45 p.m. to 2:15 a.m.
Salary : According to internal pay scales
Plan : St-Jean Port-Joli or L'Islet
Description : Production Operator - Sheet Metal plays an important role in the manufacturing of components that will be part of the finished products by performing one of the first steel transformation steps, which is bending.
Material Preparation :
Review the work order and plans to understand job specifications and requirements. Select appropriate pieces based on project needs. Prepare the dies, tools, and templates required for the press brake.
Press Brake Machine Setup :
Configure the press brake according to project specifications, including angle, length, and required bending pressure. Verify that the necessary tooling is correctly installed.
Safety :
Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents. Use required personal protective equipment.
Metal Bending :
Place the metal sheet into the press brake using measuring devices to ensure precise bends. Operate the press brake to perform bends according to project specifications. Visually inspect the quality of the bends and adjust the machine if necessary to correct defects.
Inspection and Quality Control :
Verify the compliance of bent pieces with technical drawings. Measure angles, lengths, and other dimensions to ensure accuracy. Remove defective pieces or correct them if possible.
Communication :
Collaborate with other members of the production team and report issues to the team leader. Maintain production records in the system.
Perform all related tasks as requested by immediate supervisor.
Skills and experience required :
• Ability to handle loads of more than 10 kilograms
• Ability to work standing in a semi-stationary position
• DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in precision sheet metal or machining is an asset
• Knowledge of the imperial measurement system (inches) is an asset
