Rousseau Metal Inc. has been manufacturing high-quality products for 70 years. Over the years we have become known as a leader in storage solutions. The quality, durability and reliability of our products have earned them a reputation as being among the best in the industry.

1950-1960

Mr. André Rousseau founds Rousseau Metal Inc. in February 1950.

In its early days, the company has five employees working in a 15,000 sq. ft. plant in Saint-Port-Joli, Quebec.

1960-1970

"Rousseau is known for made-to-order products, manufactured to meet the requirements of its customers, who were mainly the government and private businesses.

The company wins the contract to make Canadian mailboxes. Contracts with the Canada Post Corporation and then Canada Post continue for more than 50 years.

1970-1980

Rousseau creates its own storage product lines and focuses on the industrial market.

This is when the company starts selling its ""O"" and ""R"" shelving, ""Z"" tables, ""K"" and ""P"" racking, and the ""L-130"" industrial storage cabinet. It is also when the first line of modular cabinets launches: the ""OT-200"".

1980-1985

1980-1985

1984 is a turning point for Rousseau with the Bertolini project. This is a contract to provide equipment storage for the US Navy, mainly involving the ""OT-400"" modular cabinet.

This contract allows Rousseau to start covering the private and government sectors in both Canada and the United States.

1985-1990

Mr. Simon-Pierre Paré takes the reins in 1987.

This period also sees the launch of the ""FO"" and ""FI"" shelving units and ""L-190"" storage cabinet.

1990-2000

1990-2000

Major investment is put into research and development to design highly innovative products.

The result is the development of Spider® Shelving, ""WS/WM"" workstations and a new generation of the ""OT-700"" modular cabinet.

At this point, Rousseau has 260 employees.

Rousseau's business strategy is based on two major areas: product development and business development.

This is a period of major investment in equipment such as powder coating, welding robots, cutting and punching units, and automatic bending units.

With the launch of the R Heavy-Duty Modular Cabinet and GT workstations specially designed for technicians, Rousseau establishes itself as the leading manufacturer of these products as soon as they enter the market.

Development of these products requires a huge amount of work, but their durability and timeless and modular design is worth the considerable effort.

After 28 years at the head of Rousseau, Mr. Simon-Pierre Paré retires.

Mr. Charles-Alexandre Paré and Michel Lacombe take the reins in 2015.

A second plant is opened in 2018 to meet the current needs and future growth of the company while offering a desirable workplace for employees.

Located in the municipality of L'Islet, Quebec, the plant is light and airy, fitted with cutting-edge and ergonomic technology: everything has been designed to improve efficiency and the well-being of employees.

This period also sees the introduction of multiple specialized product lines: the RS Corner Workstation, TekZone Workstation Hutch, MultiTek Cart, Service Advisor Desk, R2V Vertical Storage System, R-Go Motorized Toolbox and Platform…
